Sorry it took so long to reply. I've been out on the road a lot.

Once you remove the virus, go to the control panel and click on "Internet Properties". Click on the "Connections" tab. Then click on "LAN Settings". The box that pops up, be sure that nothing but "Automatically Detect Settings" is checked. If anything else is checked, uncheck it. Click apply and ok. That should do it.

Could you remind me, once again, of what to do when the computer has been cleared of virus, but won't connect to the internet?  I'll write it down this time! Thank you!

You can go to probably wal mart... and buy a wireless network adapter for the laptop. If you have the router, all you need is the adapter installed on the laptop. Look on the package of the wireless adapter you are thinking of buying and make sure it is wireless N compatable.

It's me again....the clueless computer girl.  I am trying to get wireless internet hooked up for my daughter's laptop before Christmas.  I bought a wireless N Router and found out that my computer is not wireless capable.  They said I needed a wireless adapter.  My question is, do I need both the router and the adapter?  Thanks so much.  Smiley
